Hanoi & Secoin through the lens of a foreign television company

On March 10 ^th , 2009, Channel News Asia (Singapore based) broadcasted the programme Business Class with a film featuring about the culture and business environment in Hanoi – the Capital of Vietnam. The film was to provide information and advice to foreign businessmen who have plan to invest into or do business in Hanoi. Together with Standard Chartered Bank and big hotels like Hilton, Sofitel, Metropole, Secoin Company was selected as a typical Vietnamese company to be a part of the film.

From the view of Channel News Asia, Hanoi is considered one of the most dynamic cities in the world. With the market economy started in Doi moi (Renovation) in 1986, Hanoi has made impressive progress and the private economic sector has emerged as the driving force which made great contribution to the development of the Capital.

Channel News Asia pictured the way of development of Vietnam’s market economy through the establishment and development of Secoin Company – a Vietnamese private company founded in 1989. Secoin has got 20 years moving together with the Vietnamese economic ups and downs and has affirmed its position as the leading non-burnt building material manufacturer in Vietnam. According to Ms. Vo Lien Huong – Vice General Director of Secoin, the private economic companies’ role is more and more recognized, Vietnamese businessmen have become the spearhead in the country’s development and their contribution has gained appraisal from the society. Although Hanoi is not as dynamic as Hochiminh City, it will be an attractive destination for foreign investors who have a long-term and stable investment strategy.
